Chicago Southland Job Hunters Network

Have you been affected by workforce reduction recently? If so, you are among too many others struggling to find a new job. This job market is one of the most competitive in a very long time, and affecting many, many professions and industries.

We're reaching out to people recently affected by workforce reduction, layoffs or company closure. This is an ideal group to get involved in if you are serious about your job search. You will not only improve your networking skills, you’ll learn to polish up your resume & cover letter and sharpen your interview skills.

Our meetings are lively; supportive, full of dynamic discussion, sharing of job leads and other pertinent information. Even if you are in career transition, or returning to the workforce after a long absence, you'll find this group to be supportive and time well spent. Learn what others in your community are doing to find work. In return, we ask that you share your own job hunting experiences and be an active participant in this forum.

We discuss the major online job boards, niche sites and other avenues to job hunting. You will learn from an insider’s perspective, about what companies look for when recruiting and making hiring decisions. Other open meetings have included topics such as using LinkedIn for your job search, how to request and supply references, when and how to contact an employer after an interview has taken place. You’ll hear from others about their own efforts, sites they’ve found user friendly, and shared job leads and experiences.
